Okay so I kinda like the idea that the four Diamonds we know of in SU are just four of twelve because imagine how expansive that could make the universe (a.k.a. my headcanon):
-The other 8 Diamonds decided that such a system was hurting their people and so they reformed their governing to center on the needs of Gem society that didn’t dictate conquering other planets, harmful kindergartening, etc.
- this means that there was a political and social divide between the Diamonds, creating factions that essentially became different “countries” or nations of Gems.
- This means that there is a separation and evolution of Gem language.
-This means accents.
- Thusly I present to you: Quartzes with Scottish and/ or Australian accents
Meteora Butterfly
Eclipsa Butterfly had to rule too soon because her mother died, which is why she sympathized with Moon. This could vaguely hint to Mewni being a matrilineal monarchy. Being a young queen all alone and solely responsible for the future of Mewni would be a lot to handle alone, especially with such a curious spirit. It’s possible she never wanted to rule, just to explore the bounds of her magic. Maybe she agreed to an arranged marriage with an ambitious young nobleman who encouraged her to let him do all the heavy lifting in terms of ruling. They had a marriage of convenience and had a child quickly to cement the marriage. But she had a boy, who would not inherit the throne in the event that a girl was born. But Eclipsa got what she wanted and in her magical exploration, she met a monster and fell in love for real. She divorced her mewman husband and married her monster love in secret, which would cause the mewman king to hate all monsters because he would feel threatened by them. He might have created anti-monster propaganda and circulated the idea that Eclipsa abandoned her throne and family to be with an evil monster. That way although Eclipsa would technically still be queen, the people of Mewni would follow her husband, the reigning regent for her heir, her son. Then she had a daughter. A few years after it happened, the mewman king found out and sent the council to destroy her claim. Eclipsa would have kept meteora safe and locked away, but she may have eventually sent her to Saint Olga’s for safe keeping if she had a trustworthy friend there. I think that either that trusted friend brainwashed Meteora to keep her safe, or else Meteora did it herself because remembering who she was was just too painful. I don’t think Eclipsa did it because it would go against her “all knowledge is good knowledge” motto. Moon and Star are descended from Eclipsa’s son, who was raised to think monsters were all evil and took his mother away, which is why they’re great-times-a-bunch granddaughters of Eclipsa instead of grand-nieces.
Eclipsa Butterfly Daughter(s) Theory
After watching the latest Star Vs a lot of theories popped concerning Miss Heinous/ Meteora Butterfly so I thought that I drop my own. First off even though I knew she was a butterfly from the first time I saw her mark I was not expecting the Eclipsa monster twist that caught me off guard. Also this got me thinking about two theories that I thought of concerning eclipsa.
!.Eclipsa had two daughters: ok in her tapestry it was stated that she was wed to a mewman king but took a monster as her lover so I thought what if she had a child with the mewman king but abandon her & the father to be with the monster. If so this could explain why her family has such problems with monsters because her first born grew up resenting & hating her mother for leaving her for a monster & having another daughter with a monster causing her to pass that hatred for monsters to the following generations.
2.Eclipsa had a sister: this one refers to maybe eclipsa had a younger sister that after she abandon the kingdom she took over but she was credited as the great grandmother to hide the scandal that maybe star’s blood line is not the rightful rulers of mewni but Miss Heinous/ Meteora Butterfly is.
